Protein Name: Oxysterol-binding protein 1

UniprotKB/SwissProt ID: OSBP1_MOUSE (Q3B7Z2)

Gene Name: Osbp

Synonyms: Kiaa4220

Organism: Mus musculus (Mouse).

Function: Binds cholesterol and a range of oxysterols. Cholesterol binding promotes the formation of a complex with PP2A and a tyrosine phosphatase which dephosphorylate ERK1/2, whereas 25- hydroxycholesterol causes its disassembly. Regulates cholesterol efflux by decreasing ABCA1 stability (By similarity).

Other Modifications: View all modification sites in dbPTM

Protein Subcellular Localization: Cytoplasm (By similarity). Golgi apparatus membrane; Peripheral membrane protein (By similarity). Note=When bound to oxysterols, translocates to the periphery of Golgi membranes (By similarity).
